We understand that separation and divorce can be the most difficult time in your life.
How you resolve your divorce will impact every aspect of your life: your finances, your family, your children, and even your retirement.
Our approach is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances, without unnecessary litigation. We take the time to help you to consider the best pathway forward for you and your family.
You may be situation where you and your former partner have reached agreement. If so, you should take a look at our Assisted DIY separation option, ONWARDS>> where we can help you to formalise your agreement and move on with your life.
If you are having trouble reaching agreement or even unable to communicate with your former partner, we can help you to work out your next steps toward finalising your parenting and/or property matter.
1. Conflict Check
Before we can work with you, we make sure there is no potential conflict of interest.
This means that if we have already spoken to or had any dealings whatsoever with your former partner, we will let you know and refer you to another suitably qualified family lawyer.
2. Introductory 15 minute Call
Set up a time to speak with us over the phone, so that we can get the basic details of your case and introduce you to our firm. There is no cost involved.
3. Initial Consultation
Time to get into the details. Meet with one of our family lawyers online, by telephone or in person for around 1 to 1/1/2 hours so that we can get details about the background information of your case, with a focus on parenting and property issues. We will provide some initial advice to you when possible, provide you with a roadmap for next steps, flag any key issues with you and recommend you meet with any specialist if necessary.
4. Your Unique Strategy
Once we have all of your relevant information, we are able to prepare detailed next steps for you, to work together with you to meet your goals and your individual circumstances.
5. Next Steps & Ongoing Support
We will keep you informed throughout the process and provide you with the support you need to be able to move forward with your life. Sometimes cases can take time which can be frustrating but rest assured that we will talk to you about your expectations and your timeframe so that you are well equipped to be able to plan your future
6. Resolution
A large percentage of family law matters settle by agreement and we strive to ensure that this is your reality. However, in the event you are required to commence proceedings in Court, or respond to an application that your former partner has commenced, we will work with you to continue to attempt to reach resolution without the need to rely upon the Court to make a decision about your future.
