INTRODUCING SABRINA SCHEELE AS OUR SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Sabrina Scheele - Senior Associate - O'Loan Family Law - North Sydney

I am thrilled to announce my new role as a Senior Associate at O’Loan Family Law. I intend to use this new chapter to continue to provide my clients with exceptional service and mentoring junior team members in the firm. I am excited for my continued growth and future within the firm!

Our Senior Associate Sabrina Scheele explains her background, why she is passionate about family law and what’s special about the O’Loan Family Law team.

Why O’Loan Family Law?

I began working at O’Loan Family Law in July 2021, back when it was just Bron and I!  When I came on board, I greatly assisted, not only with managing my clients, but also with developing firm procedures, discussing marketing and creating innovative ways in which we could communicate and connect with our family law clients.

I was attracted to the firm’s ethos and culture, which strives to focus on assisting separating couples towards reaching a resolution without resorting to litigation in most cases. Since joining the firm, I have found this to be true and I consistently strive to find ways to assist family law clients who are surviving through a very difficult time in their lives.

I enjoy sharing the responsibility of mentoring and training junior members within the O’Loan Family Law team. I love sharing my passion and experience with others, helping them develop their skills and understanding of the family law system.

O’Loan Family Law is unique because it plays an active role in supporting community and social issues. In March 2022, the team attended an event hosted by Mary’s House Services, an organisation that proactively supports women and children escaping domestic violence.

What is Sabrina’s Background?

I was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia in December 2017 and have worked exclusively in family law since 2016.

Prior to joining the O’Loan Family Law team, I worked in a boutique firm in the Northern Beaches and a specialist family law firm in North Sydney.

I graduated with Honours in my Bachelor of Laws and Psychology from Macquarie University. During university, I was accepted as a Golden Key International Honour Society Member and I was awarded the Macquarie Law School Prize for achieving first place in one of my subjects.

Whilst studying at university, I was selected to intern at the Department of Human Services, giving me direct exposure and experience with the Department’s policies, including child support procedures.

In 2021, I achieved my Masters of Applied Family Law. It was beneficial for me to complete the practical course which was tutored by prominent solicitors and barristers experienced in the practice of family law.

Sabrina’s passion for Family Law

My background in psychology, coupled with my legal knowledge, allows me to empathise with and support clients in a meaningful way while helping them navigate through their family law matter.

My professional and plain English approach helps my clients feel comfortable and understand their rights and responsibilities when making decisions. I am to resolve matters early where possible, and I am a strong advocate when representing my clients in the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia.

I am passionate about providing advice and assistance to individuals experiencing separation and de facto relationship breakdown, divorce, parenting disputes, family violence and matters relating to child support and the division of property. In particular, I use my knowledge and skills to assist individuals involved in child support disputes and allows me to provide insightful advice about child support arrangements for separated parents.

I enjoy attending specialist law conferences, sharing my notes and learnings gained from the conferences with my team. Every year, I ensure to attend the annual Family Law Judge’s webinar series and am an active member of the Australian Family Law Section. In my spare time, I enjoy reading policy recommendations conducted by the Australian Institute of Family Studies, as well as playing soccer and looking after my Finnish Lapphund puppy!
